The major areas of uranium exploration and potential mining and milling affecting Ottawa are in eastern Ontario and West Quebec.  The first three maps below depict the areas of activity.

The first map shows the main ore bodies in eastern Ontario and southwestern Quebec.  The second and third maps show the primary centres of exploration (red stars) and approximate waterways leading to Ottawa/Gatineau (red lines).

The final map below is a Google! Earth image of the Elliot Lake, ON region.  It shows tailings management facilities, that must be managed in perpeuity, left over from the uranium mining that took place there until the 1990s.
